You've probably heard the old saying, "What goes around, comes around." To me it suggests that someone will eventually get what they deserve. Usually I hear it in regards to someone who has done something wrong, or who treated other people badly. However, according to the Bible, the good things we do will also eventually bring good things back to us. And whether good or bad, the harvest of our actions will be reflected in what we receive in return.
If we are generous in sharing our blessings—whether it's money, talents, time, or a compassionate attitude—we will be richly blessed. If our focus is on ourselves, and we don't share our blessings, there will be less of a harvest for us. And for God.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
(2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV)
"Dear Lord, you have blessed each of us with gifts you intend for us to share with others. Remind us to be generous with these gifts so that our blessings will also take root in the lives of people in need. In return, we will reap your blessings in our own lives. Thank you for giving us the means of spreading your bounty and helping others, and for generously providing whatever we need. Amen."
